Gonda, Aug 15 (UNI) A local court has issued non-bailable warrant against Samajwadi Party leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Vinod Kumar Singh for remaining absent in the court regarding his case.

According to prosecution, some assailants had opened at Mr Singh near Ballipur village in Nawabganj area here on December 24, 1993.

Former minister's relative Jogendra Singh had then registered a case against unidentified people in connection with the crime.

Later, name of MP Brij Bhushan, Gyan Singh, Devdatt Singh and Deepnarayan Singh had come to fore and police had filed a chargesheet in 1994.

However, as Mr Vinod remained absent in the court in the past few hearings, special Judge Shyam Bihari issued non-bailable warrant against three people, including the former minister yesterday.

Besides, the court directed for attachment of their property on non-compliance of its order.

August 21 has been fixed as the next hearing date into the case.
