Maoist extremist surrenders on I-day celebrations

Bagha, Aug 15: A self proclaimed maoist area commander Sonam alias Sangeeta Kumari on Friday, Aug 15 surrendered before the Police Superintendent during Independence day celebrations in Bagha police district of West Champaran.

The maoist suddenly came onto the ground when SP Nishant Kumar Tiwari was unfurling the tricolour and surrendered along with her firearms.

Sonam, an inhabitant of Bhamki Tola under Laukaria police station of the district, was wanted by the police in connection with several cases, including two encounters with the police and CRPF personnel in which two security personnel were killed.

Later cheques of Rs 58,000 were distributed among the nearest kin of each five dreaded bandits who had surrendered before the administration earlier.
