UP CM greets people on Independence day and Raksha Bandhan
Lucknow, Aug 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has extended her heartiest felicitations and good wishes to the people of the State on the 61st anniversary of the Independence Day, and Raksha Bandhan.
The Chief Minister said the Independence Day is an occasion when all of us should realise the dreams of our freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives to achieve country's freedom.
Paying tributes to the martyrs, she said all of us should remember their sacrific and draw inspiration from them.
We should also be vigilant and cautions to preserve our sovereignty and freedom, she added.
Expressing concern over the dismal state of the under priviledged, the CM said there was a need to launch a drive for the upliftment of the deprived sections of the society as this section had been lagging behind in the race of development even after 61 years of Independence.
Efforts should be made to give equal opportunities so that they could also prosper and grow, she added.
Lauding the BSP government, she said our concept of ''Sarvajan Hitai Sarvajan Sukhai'' had infused a new life in the political atmosphere. Everyone's cooperation was required to establish an equality based society in the state as well as in the country by implementing this concept, she stressed.
She said the incidents of terrorism and separatism is on increase and the countrymen should get united to foil terrorists nefarious designs. Therefore, on this occasion, all of us should take a resolution to maintain peace and prosperity in the state, she added.
Extending greeting for the Raksha Bandhan, the CM said ''this festival is a symbol of social harmony and national integrity as it reminds us of our duties, love, warmth and feeling of faith in each other, besides strengthening love-bond between brothers and sisters.'' Meanwhile, the UP governor T V Rajeshwar has also greeted people on the happy occasion of Independence day and conveyed his best wishes.
He also paid tribute to the great heroes, who contributed in freedom struggle.
