Kodagu suffers Rs 22.04 cr loss due to heavy rain
Madikeri, Aug 14: Kodagu in Karnataka has suffered a loss of Rs 22.04 crore so far following incessant rain, according to a senior official of the district administration.
A report submitted to the state government by Deputy Commissioner K R Niranjan said four people and five cattle have died due to heavy rain while 40 houses were damaged in the district.
The loss to houses damaged in all the three taluks of the district was put at Rs 6.62 lakh while damage to roads and government buildings was estimated at Rs 247.85 lakh. Six houses were inundated at the Karadigod area and most of temporary bridges were swept away by flood waters, the report said.
Schools in the district were reopened for conducting Independence day celebrations.
