Inflation surges to 12.44% on higher food
New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) The headline inflation rate for the week ended August 2 surged to 12.44 per cent on account of higher prices of food and fuel items.
According to the official data released by the Commerce and Industry Ministry here today, the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) stood at 12.01 per cent for the previous week.
It said both food and fuel items were up 0.9 per cent each during the week ended August 2.
