HP adopts single window system for clearing tourism projects

Shimla, Aug 14 (UNI) To speed up the clearance procedure for tourism projects, the Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to entrust the responsibility of according approval for clearance of tourism projects to the State Level Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority.

The State Level Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority has been constituted in the industries department for channelising, facilitating and guiding investment in medium and large-scale industrial projects in the state in a transparent and time-bound manner.

A spokesman of the state government said that Secretary Tourism and Commissioner Tourism would now be regular members of the Authority.

"Adopting single window approach for clearance of tourism related projects would also strengthen inter-departmental co-ordination," he said.

This would promote tourism activities in the state besides generating employment avenues to the unemployed youth, he added.

"Tourism is the major industry in the state and has great potential for income and employment generation. The government is focusing upon strengthening this vital sector for which various initiatives are being taken from time to time," the spokesman said.
