CCTV to be installed in Beur jail
Patna, Aug 14 (UNI) The Bihar government has decided to install close circuit televisions (CCTV) in the Beur Central Jail for keeping a close tabs on the jail inmates' movements.
Sources at the jail headquarter said here today that pan, zoon and tilt cameras would be fitted near the gate of the jail, boundary walls, in the meeting rooms as well as at other strategic points to keep a watch on the inmates, their visitors and the security personnel deployed there.
The sources further said the wards, cells and bathrooms would be free from such CCTVs.
The feed of the CCTVs would be available to the jail superintendents as well as the jail headquarters and the inputs would be used to maintain peace and security inside the jail, according to sources.
The Bihar State Electronic Development Corporation (BELTRON) had been entrusted with the responsibility for implementing the project, the sources added.
Once the CCTVs were installed, it would be difficult for the inmates to violate the law, the sources said adding some more appliances related to safety and security inside the jail would also be further installed.
