BJP demands handing over of land to SASB

Hyderabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Senior BJP Leader Bandaru Dattatreya today warned that his party would extend its stir to Mandal headquarters all over the country if land was not reallotted to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).

Addressing a press conference here to brief newspersons on the party's three-day 'Jail Bharao' stir organised at 270 centres in the state in which 35,000 activists participated, he said this was not an issue relating to a temple in Jammu and Kashmir, but sentiments of Hindus all over the country and abroad.'' ''The BJP will not rest till the Amarnath land is given back to the Shrine Board,'' he asserted, accusing the ruling Congress of resorting to ''vote bank politics''.

Expressing concern over the safety Rs 50,000 crore worth jewels of Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, he demanded a judicial inquiry into the case of missing gold pendants and constitution of a high-level vigilance committee to inspect the jewels every month.
