Any connection b/w climbing stairs

Bangalore, Aug 14: Its a well known fact that climbing stairs is a good exercise to keep you fit. But did you know that climbing stairs can generate electricity? Well, two chennai based doctors have invented such a device.

Dr Parikumar, an ophthalmologist, and Dr Samuel JK Abraham, two doctors from Chennai have claimed to have invented a device that can produce electricity while one walks and climbs stairs.

According to a press release from Nichi-In Bio Sciences Ltd, an Indo-Japanese joint venture company, a simple generator kept under the stairs acts by a lever, which goes down by the weight when one walks over it. This action rotates gear attached to a dynamo, which produces electricity.

"The electricity thus produced can be used directly now or at some later stage," the release said, adding that the device has been named ADL (Activities of Daily Life) Energy. It is totally environment friendly as it produces no emission.
The device is yet to be improvised.
