Amaranth Yatra suspended due inclement weather
Jammu, Aug 14: The Amarnath Yatra was on Thursday, Aug 14 suspended and the last batch of pilgrims on the two-month long pilgrimage could not leave for the holy cave shrine due to the inclement weather, official sources here said.
''Due to continuous rainfall in various parts of Jammu and Srinagar, the authorities were forced to suspend the yatra,'' sources told UNI, asserting, ''The inclement weather at Pahalgam and Baltal was not favourable for the pilgrimage.'' Sources said that it was the last batch of pilgrims that had to visit Baltal for the Amarnath cave from here, while the Yatra would conclude on August 16 (full moon night).
Earlier, the Yatra was suspended twice due to poor weather conditions en route Amarnath cave and landslides near Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, they said.
