RS MP pooh-poohs Cong Youth's claim on NREGS

Aizawl, Aug 13 (UNI) Mizoram Rajya Sabha MP Lalhmingliana today rubbished the Pradesh Congress Youth's claim that it was entrusted to monitor the NREG Scheme in the state.

The Centre has set guidelines on the NREGS and its monitoring agency, and it was not appropriate for a certain party youth wing to claim responsibility, he explained.

"But, it's okay if any party volunteers to strengthen the hands of the implementing agency," Lalhmingliana said.

Mr Lalhmingliana said this while laying a foundation stone of Lungdai community hall on Aizawl-Silchar road, about 20 kms from here.

On the alleged misutilisation of the NREGS, Lalhmingliana said, "It is too early to complain that you get only 20 to 30 days employment under the scheme. We still have a number of months to go to complete a year. Make complaints only when you don't get 100 days' employment in a year." UNI ZS PC DB1853
