Rs 2.64 cr for fool-proof security at Patna museum

Patna, Aug 13 (UNI) With a view to completely overhauling the security parametres at the famous Patna museum, the Bihar government has announced a special grant of Rs 2.64 crore from its own resources for the purpose.

Official sources here yesterday informed that in the wake of recent terrorist attacks in several important government buildings and heritage sites in different parts of the country, the state government had decided to improve the security parametres at the museum by introducing a number of new state-of-the-art security gadgets soon.

Since the museum houses a number of priceless artifacts, age-old sculptures and other important exhibits from the time immemorial, the government had thought it pertinent to ensure fool-proof security of the building as well as the artifacts at par the world standard and allocated the amount, the sources added.

Further elaborating, they said the Philips India had been entrusted with the job of improving the lighting facilities of both within and outside the museum complex, while steps had been taken to instal a number of Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTVs) and night vision cameras in different stragetic locations of the two-storied palatial building.

Asked whether the government was also considering to improve the facilities of viewers in the museum, particularly the students community, the sources said they were planning to introduce several touch-screen kiosks to provide more information to the viewers not only about the museum displays but also about the history and cultural heritage of the country, including Bihar.
