Ranganathaswamy temple offers gifts to Cauvery

Srirangam, Aug 13: Amid religious fervour, the Sri Ranganathawamy temple here offered holy gifts to Cauvery river on Wednesday, Aug 13 marking the 'Adi 28' festival.

The gifts-- a holy sari, few garlands and fruits-- mounted on an elephant were taken out from the temple and immersed in Cauvery river at the Ammamandapam ghat.

Large number of devotees offered worship to river Cauvery and Namperumal on the occasion.

Earlier, Sri Namperumal (diety) was taken out from the sanctum sanctorum in a palanquin to Ammamandapam, marking the 'Adi 28 purappadu' ritual. Later, 'Tirumanjanam' was performed.
