Puducherry, Aug 13 (UNI) PMK parliamentary party leader and state secretary M Ramadass today urged the territorial administration to take immediate steps to hold discussions with private bus operators on the demand for upward revision in bus fares.
In a statement here, Prof Ramadass said due to rise in prices of petrol, diesel and spare parts, private bus operators were unable to ply their vehicles and suspending their services to interior villages.
He said a high-level panel headed by Transport secrertary be constituted to hold talks with private bus operators to effect an upward revision in bus fares in a manner that people were not affected.
The governemnt could revise the tax rates to enable only a slight hike in bus fares, he suggested.
