Crime Branch to probe nun's suicide case
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 13 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the Crime Branch would probe into the alleged suicide of a nun, Anupa Mary, at the St Mary's Convent at Kollam.
Talking to reporters after the weekly Cabinet meeting, he said a police team, led by Crime Branch Inspector-General Harinath Mishra, would investigate the incident.
Mr Achuthanandan also said the government had also decided to give Rs two lakh as solatium to the family of the 24-year-old nun.
Earlier, the nun's father Pappachan met the Chief Minister and Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and submitted a memorandum requesting to probe the incident.
The nun allegedly committed suicide by hanging in the convent on August 11, reportedly due to torture and sexual harassment by the head of the convent.
