17-year-old girl raped by stepfather

Mumbai, Aug 13: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped on several occasions by her stepfather at Dharavi in North Central Mumbai.

Police on Wednesday, Aug 13 said Shakeel Sharif Khan married the victim's mother in 2000. He had been raping his stepdaughter since 2004, threatening the victim of dire consequences, if she disclosed the matter to her mother.

On August 9, the girl complained about abdominal pain to her mother, who took her to the doctor. After examining the victim, the medical practitioner told the victim's mother that she was pregnant.

A complaint had been lodged with Dharavi police, who arrested Shakeel last night, the sources added.
