Farmer shoots wife, two daughters and commits suicide

Kapurthala, Aug 11 (UNI) A farmer shot dead his wife and daughters and then committed suicide by shooting himself in Chak Dona village in the district this evening.

According to police, Avtar Singh (45) first shot dead his wife Surinder Kaur (40), then shot dead his two daughters Rajwinder Kaur (20) and Palwinder Kaur (17). After killing the three, he shot himself in the forehead.

While his wife and his two daughters died on the spot, Avtar Singh was rushed to Jalandhar hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

SSP Rakesh Aggarwal when contacted said the cause behind the murders was not known immediately.Police has registered a case and began investigations.

However his two sons had a providential escape as they fled away from the house on hearing the shots. His third son is currently abroad.
