Yellapura records very heavy rainfall of 14 cm

Bangalore, Aug 10 (UNI) Following is a Summary of observations recorded by weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Southwest was vigorous over Interior Karnataka and active over Coastal Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka and at many places over South Interior Karnataka.

Very Heavy Rainfall amounts (cm): Yellapura 14; Ankola, Bhagamandala, Sringeri, Kottigehara, Kammardi 13 each.

Heavy Rainfall amounts (cm): Joida 12; Dharmasthala 11; Mani 10; Siddapura(Udupi), Gerusoppa, Kiravatti Karwar, Sirsi, Chincholi, Madikeri, Talaguppa 9 each; Bajpe, Subramanya, Kollur, Bimalkhed, Kalasa, N.R.Pura, Madapura 8 each; Panambur, Bhalki, Tyagarthi 7 each.

Other Chief amounts of rainfall (cm): Mudibidre, Honavar, Haliyal, Virajpet 6 each; Puttur, Karkala, Sirsi, Banavasi, Sambre, Chikodi, Hukkeri, Humchadakatte 5 each; Kota, Kundapur Bhatkal, Sargur 4 each; Udupi, Gokak, Dharwad, Shiggaon, Sedam, Kushalnagar 3 each.

Forecast valid until Tuesday morning:Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka and at many places over South Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin : Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at most places over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka and over Kodagu, Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Hassan districts of South Interior Karnataka. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over remaining districts of South Interior Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall Warning:Heavy rain likely to occur at a few places with isolated very heavy falls over Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours. Heavy rain also likely to occur at isolated places over all the districts of North Interior Karnataka during the same period.

FISHRIES WARNING : Strong onshore winds mainly from westerly direction speed occasionally reaching 45 to 55 kmph likely along off Karnataka coast during the 24 hours.
