Bangalore, Aug 10 (UNI) Renewed southwest Monsoon has put normal life out of gear in parts of the Karnataka State today.
In Kodagu, the catchment areas of River Cauvery, rain lashing since last two days putting normal life out of gear and forcing authorities to declare holiday for schools tomorrow. The inflow into KRS Reservoir has considerably increased the water level which was 117 feet was expected to touch full level of 124.85 feet anytime.
Heavy rain was reported in Davanagere, Belgaum, Mangalore, Dharwad and Gulbarga.
In Gulbarga the vehicular traffic on Gulbarga-Hyderabad National Highway was severely disrupted following overflowing of rain water.
Six houses collapsed due to rain in Dabalgundi and Humnabad town.
The water level in Almatti Reservoir is reaching its maximum level of 518.55 mt as against full level of 519 mt. The inflow was recorded at 52,624 cusecs and the outflow was maintained at 25,473 cusecs.
Seven crest gates of Narayanapura project was opened and 66,000 cusecs was discharged to the downstream Jurala project in Mahaboobnagar in Andhra Pradesh. This was for the first time the crest gates of Narayanapur was lifted to release water to downstream in the season.
In Mangalore fishermen were warned against venturing into fishing due to rain accompanied with heavy winds.
In Koppal four people were injured when roof of a house collapsed due to rain.
