Rains in Mumbai partially affects traffic
Mumbai, Aug 10 (UNI) Heavy rains that lashed the city overnight partially affected the public transport today, but life largely remained normal as it was a holiday.
The Harbour Line was partially affected, with the trains running a few minutes late and some of them getting cancelled.
The Central railway officials said that rain water accumulated on the tracks of Kurla, Sion, Chunnabhatti and Govandi, which affected the services partially. But the services were back to normal later, they said.
The road traffic in the western suburbs was also affected with the traffic moving slowly in the region between Bandra and Kandivali. Traffic officials said that the traffic came to a standstill for sometime in the afternoon after rain water got accumulated in some of the areas.
''The traffic returned to normal as the water subsided,'' the official added.
Meanwhile, there were reports of trees being uprooted and roof falling, wherein no casualty or damage was reported.
