'Quit India Movement Day' celebrated
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 10 (UNI) In commemoration of the Quit India Movement, a rally was jointly organised by the Air Squadron (Tech), NCC of the National College and Rajiv Gandhi Trust here.
Addressing the rally yesterday, District Collector T Soundiah said the student community in the country had played a major role to enable the movement to gather momentum all over the country during the freedom struggle.
Paying rich tributes to freedom fighters, he said the Quit India Movement had played a vital role in India's freedom struggle.
The historic session of the All India Congress Committee, commenced in Mumbai on August 7, 1942, had passed the 'Quit India' resolution which created an electrifying effect in the country, he added.
After a detailed discussion with many leaders during the course of the session, Gandhiji had given his instant aproval for the slogan ''Quit India,'' he said.
The rally was flagged off by the collector.
