Mild tremors in Chennai

Chennai, Aug 10 (UNI) Residents of this city felt mild tremors following a quake in Andaman Islands measuring 6.6 on the Richter Scale this afternoon.

According to the Indian Meterological Department (IMD) here, the tremors were felt in Tiruvanmayur, Beasant Nagar and Santhome Areas of the city though they were too mild for many of the residents to notice.

The IMD said there was no cause for any panic. The aftershocks in Andaman Islands occurred at 1510 hrs with the epicentre located nearly 145 km away from Port Blair. There was, however, no tsunami warning.
