APCC calls party workers to take part in relief works
Hyderabad, Aug 10: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President D Srinivas on Aug 10 appealed to party district unit presidents and workers to actively participate in the relief works taken up by the state government following heavy rains in the state.
Addressing a press conference here he said the APCC had already called upon the party workers and District Congress Committee Presidents to co-operate with the government machinery in extending relief to rain-hit people.
Sympathising with the families of those who lost their lives in the rain havoc, he said party workers should not collect money or meterials from the public in the name of relief.
Referring to TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu's remarks that the heavy rains were to ''washout the sins'' of the Congress, Mr Srinivas said ''Mr Naidu is making such statements out of frustration as he has no other issues to criticise the Congress and its government.'' Asked about the all-party meeting held by the Left parties in the state to chalk out a plan to ''dislodge'' the Congress in the next elections, he claimed the Congress could alone deliver the goods to the people.
