3 killed as train hits car near Tiruchirapalli

Tiruchirapalli, Aug 10: Three people, including a woman, were killed on the spot when the car in which they were travelling collided with the Mayiladuthurai-Tirunelveli Passenger Train at an unmanned level-crossing between Tiruchirapalli Junction and Poongudi Station, near here, on Sunday, Aug 10.

Police said the mishap occurred when the car driver attempted to cross the level-crossing.

Following this, the train suffered a delay of about 15 minutes.

Police rushed to the spot and removed the bodies to the Government Headquarters Hospital for post-mortems.
