Hundreds of passengers stranded in Andaman for bad weather

Port Blair, Aug 09 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar Administration has suspended sailing of all vessels for Inter Island and Foreshore sector for today due to prevailing unfavourable wind conditions in these islands.

For precaution the Directorate of shipping services of Andaman and Niocbar Administration have also hoisted local precautionary signal No. III in all the Ports of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Due to sudden suspension of all the sailing hundreds of passengers have got reported stranded in various scattered islands.

The condition of weather will be reviewed this evening, an official release said here. The Island Administration has also cancelled a few ferry services, creating problem for inter-island ship passengers of these far-flung islands.

Meanwhile the Indian Meteorological Department unit of Andaman has predicted strong southwest to westerly wind speed between 55&65 KM per hour and very rough to high seas along and off Andaman and Nicobar coast. Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea, the weather warning from Met department said here today.
