Dewatering in full swing in flood-hit districts

Chandigarh, Aug 9: Haryana Irrigation Minister Ajay Singh Yadav on Saturday, Aug 9 said that dewatering operations were on full swing in the flood affected villages of Bhiwani, Rohtak and Jhajjar districts.

As many as 385 pumps of different capacities had been deployed in these districts to drain out accumulated rain water, he said.

The Minister said that due to heavy rains during the last three four days, water had entered in some villages of Bhiwani, Rohtak and Jhajjar districts.

The officers of Irrigation Department were instructed to instal dewatering pumps at all the possible locations to drain out water from flood affected villages.

Giving details of the villages affected by the flood water, he said that about 36 villages and 12000 acres of land in Bhiwani district, 20 villages and 8000 acres of land in Rohtak district and 30 villages and 20000 acres of land in Jhajjar district was affected.

He said four minors--Rajpura Minor, Gujrani Minor, Dang Minor, New Mundhal Minor-- of district Bhiwani which were breached had been repaired. The supply in canal system in flood affected area had been closed out to ease out the flood situation.
