Panic over bomb rumour in MP town

Jabalpur, Aug 8: Panic prevailed in this cantonment town following a television channel receiving a e-mail about bombs being planted at several places but it turned out to be hoax after investigation.

''After receiving e-mail last night, police announced alert in the town and launched a search campaign at prominent places.

Several vehicles were checked during the search late in the night,'' Superintendent of Police Makrand Deoskar said.

Senior police officers kept patrolling town and supervising search drive till late night. Police heaved sigh of relief after nothing was found.

Police suspected that miscreant elements had spread the rumour.

Me Deoskar said police were yet to discover from source of e-mail. Strict action would be taken against those spreading rumour.
