GoC 4 Corps denies remarks on Mosques

Tezpur, Aug 8 (UNI) GoC 4 Corps Lt Gen. BS Jaswal today denied he had made any statement regarding mosques and madrassas becoming operating hubs of terrorist groups in Assam and other states in the North East.

PRO of 4 Corps Colonel Rajesh Kalia issued a statement on his behalf saying that the GOC had only said the army had some old details of locations of registered and unregistered madrassas and mosques of Assam which were handed over to the state government as routine measures.

He denied the Lt. Gen. had made any comment to the press that the fundamentalist militants were operating from the safe haven of mosques and madrassas in the state.

Jaswal's purported comments had created confusion with Muslim religious leaders issuing statements against him and the army.
