COD to probe death of a house wife due to alleged dowry harassment
Madikeri, Aug 7 (UNI) The Karnataka Corps of Detectives (COD) will investigate the case of suicide by a house wife due to alleged dowry harassment at Kondangeri.
Ameena, hailing from Sullya had committed suicide by jumping into river Cauvery last month. Her parents lodged a complaint with the police and said that her husband Rafiq was forcing her to get money from her parents. The cause for her death was that she had left a gold necklace at her house at Sullya and Rafiq humiliated her for leaving it (gold necklace) behind and forced her to get it.
Protests were held at Kondangeri to hold an inquiry and hand over the case to COD for investigation.
