UPA wants to make Bush happy by signing N-deal: Acharya
Kolhapur, Aug 6 (UNI) CPI(M) group leader in Lok Sabha Basudeb Acharia today alleged that the UPA government, led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, was stubborn on the nuclear deal to make US president George Bush happy.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Acharia said UPA government neglected burning issues like increasing prices of essential commodities, starvation and farmers problem, and concentrated only on the nuclear deal, which would make India America's junior partner.
Though the UPA government had won the confidence motion in the Lok Sabha recently, they would not succeed to win people's confidence, he said. ''The incident of bribes being given to MPs during the confidence motion has tarnished our nation's image,'' Mr Acharia said.
Left parties have given a nation-wide strike call on August 20 to oppose the Union government's wrong policies, in which political parties are participating, he said.
