UP Girl commits suicide by hanging herself

Mumbai, Aug 6 (UNI) A 20-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her residence in Goregaon here today.

According to police, the girl Suman Gupta had recently come to Mumbai and was residing with her brother and sister-in-law in a chawl at Motilal Nagar at Goregaon. At around 1800 hrs this evening, while her brother had gone to his office and her sister-in-law had gone to fetch her daughter from the school, Suman locked herself inside the room and allegedly committed suicide, police said.

After coming back home, Suman's sister-in-law and niece found the house locked and had it opened by a duplicate key. After opening the door they saw the body of Suman hanging from a fan.

Suman had not left behind any suicide note and the reason for her extreme step is not yet known, police said.
