Two more succumb to rain related ailments, toll rises to 71
Mumbai, Aug 6 (UNI) Two more people succumbed today to rain-related diseases, taking the death toll to 71, since the onset of monsoon this year.
Civic officials said a 14-year-old girl died due to malaria at Kasturba hospital and a 47-year-old woman succumbed to leptospirosis at the KEM hospital.
The toll due to malaria has reached 28 and it has been the biggest cause of death this monsoon, the officials said.
In the last 24 hours, 253 people have been admitted for fever, 54 for gastroenteritis, 10 for leptospirosis, 2 for dengue and 55 for malaria in the various civic hospitals in the city, the officials added.
