Malik continues fast unto death in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 6 (UNI) Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Mohammad Yaseen Malik continued his fast unto death for the second day today here to protest the alleged attacks on Muslims and Kashmiri drivers in Jammu region.

Mr Malik, joined by his supporters and other senior citizens had started the fast at Maisuma, the headquarters of the JKLF near here at 1000 hrs yesterday.

The JKLF chairman said he will continue his fast, untill the authorities fully protect the life and property of Muslims living in different parts of Jammu region, Kashmiri drivers and students.

Mr Malik alleged that authorities and other law enforcing agencies, including Army had failed to take action against those responsible for attack on Muslims in Jammu.

Mr Malik said excessive force was being used against peaceful demonstrators in Kashmir, while the security forces remained a mute spectator, when property of the Muslims were being torched by the communal elements in Jammu.

He alleged that the curfew restrictions were not being imposed in the Jammu and violators of law had been given a free hand to attack Kashmir bound vehicles and Muslims in Jammu region.
