Jehangiri bell to hear out victims like the Mughal emperor
Patna, Aug 6 (UNI) Inspired from the Mughal emperor Jehangirs unique approach to listen to the problems of the commoners, a senior police officer in Bihar had installed a bell popularly known as ''Jehangiri Ghanti'' to hear out the fariyadis (appellants).
Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Tirhut range, Arvind Pandey took a cue from the Mughal emperors people friendly gesture and put a bell at the main gate of his official residence near Chakkar maidain in Muzaffarpur.
The DIG is available to the fariyadis round-the-clock to solve their problems.
A cop had also been deployed near the bell who takes the fariyadis directly to him, Mr Pandey said, adding he personally looks into each and every complaint.
Strengthening further the ''sushashan- good governence'' promises of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Mr Pandey asserts that the fariyadis are free to use the bell for the redressal of their grievances.
Emperor Jehangir had put a giant bell near Diwan-e-Aam in the walled city-Delhi, during his rule and on hearing the sound of the bell he used to listen to the fariyadis personally for the solution of their problems.
