Congressmen stage dharna against alleged police inaction
Rajkot, Aug 6 (UNI) Congress workers today staged a dharna outside the office of the city Police commissioner here to protest police 'inaction' against Kadar Salot, a minority cell leader of the BJP, who along with his supporters had attacked policemen, leading to injuries to a constable.
Congress City President Jaswant Singh Bhatti today said the police failed to take action against Salot despite his involvement in the attack and alleged that the Police Commissioner had bowed under political pressure.
Mr Bhatti alleged that BJP Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Rupani had interfered in the police case and had pressurised police to omit the name of Salot from an FIR.
It may be recalled that a police constable was injured when Salot and his supporters attacked policemen near a divisional police station on the night of August one, alleging that the police were 'corrupt and not takimg action against gamblers.
Mr Bhatti alleged that law and order situation in the BJP regime had deteriorated.
Meanwhile, the police arrested five persons including Irfan, son of Salot, in the case.
