Women organisations urge to pass bill for 33 pc reservation
Puducherry, Aug 5 (UNI) Representatives of several Women's organisations today called for steps to pass the 33 percent reservation bill for Women in the Parliament and State Legislatures in the monsoon session of the union legislature.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at a meeting organised by PMK Parliamentary party leader M Ramadass, to elicit the views of the women's organisations pertaining to the reservation bill.
Another resolution urged the Centre to consider an inner allocation of quoata to OBC and minority women in the reservation.
Resolutions seeking proper amendments in the present reservation bill to ensure 33 percent reservation for women in the Rajaya Sabha, to, urged to continue the reservation till women attain equality, instead of the proposed 15 years.
The rotation of the parliamentary and assembly seats allotted for women once in 15 years, were among other resoutions adopted at the meeting held here on August two, Prof Ramadass said in a statement here.
