Union home minister Shivraj Patil dwells on terrorism
Pune, Aug 5 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today said if terrorism has to be controlled in the country, it is imperative to develop a sociological environment, where one human being is not afraid of others.
Patil said developing this approach was the only long-term solution to wipe out the evil of terrorism.
He was speaking at a function, organised by Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT) on its Silver Jubilee Celebration Celebrations, Dwelling extensively on link between science and spirituality, Patil said ''you have to start with science and ultimately reach spirituality and that is the essence of holistic education, which the students should get''.
Lavishing praise on the MIT, he said there is spirituality in every corner of this Institution and hoped that its students would come out with ideas for the entire planet.
Patil strongly defended the expenditure on research in science and Technology and said that this is an investment, which would give multifold returns to the nation in the years to come.
Later, talking to reporters, Mr Patil clarified that the police academy concept was still under consideration as dialogue has been initiatived and hopefully it will materialise very soon.
The founder Director of MIT, Dr Vishwanath Karad said union of science and religion alone will bring solutions to today's problems.
The function started with recitation of World Peace Prayer. The City Mayor Rajlaxmi Bhosale and Former Union Minister Mohan Dharia were also present on the occasion.
