PMK demands 50 per cent govt quota in private medical colleges

Puducherry, Aug 5 (UNI) The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) workers led by state Secretary and Parliamentary Party leader Prof Ramadass, today held a demonstration near the Legislative Assembly in protest against the failure of the government to obtain 50 per cent seats in private medical colleges here as the government quota.

PMK Legislators Anantharaman, Arul Murugan and Panneerselvam also participated in the agitation.

The party workers took out a procession from the Cathedral churuch to hold the demonstration infront of the Legislative Assembly. However, they were prevented by the police on the Ambur Saalai road where they held the demonstration.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ramadass demanded the territorial administration to take steps to obtain 50 per cent seats from all the seven private medical colleges through an ordinance.

Prof Ramadass also threatened that if the issue was not sorted out smoothly, the party would be forced to organsie an agitation in other colleges also.
