No shortage of medicines in Kashmir valley: official
Srinagar, Aug 5 (UNI) There was absolutely no shortage of any drugs in the Kashmir valley, an official spokesman said today.
He said a joint meeting of Chemists and Distributors Association was convened by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Masaud Samoon here to review the stock position of medicines in the Valley.
The spokesman said it was informed that there was no shortage of drugs in the valley and even life saving drugs and anti-cancer drugs were sufficiently available.
It was told that hospitals also had adequate stocks of medicines.
President of the association, Syed Pervaiz assured the meeting that wholesalers also had sufficient stocks.
President, Kashmir Pharma Association, Sajad Malik and M L Bindru of Bindru Medicates assured the administration that the people will not face any inconvenience on this account as adequate stock of medicines was available with the stockists as well as the retailers.
Apprehension were expressed by people that medicine, particularly life saving drugs, were falling short in the valley following the blockade in Jammu.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Health and Medical Education, Atul Duloo, Director, Sher-e- Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Abdul Hameed Zargar, Deputy Controller, Drugs and Deputy Director, Health Services, Kashmir.
