Give Rs 10 lakh each for temple stampede victims: Mahila Cong
New Delhi, Aug 5 (UNI) Accusing the BJP-led Himachal Pradesh Government of being insensitive to the deaths of 146 pilgrims in the Naina Devi stampede, the Mahaila Congress today demanded Rs ten lakh each to the families of the those killed in the accident.
The State Government also should provide for free medical care and Rs one lakh each to the injured and a Government job to those who lost their earning member, All India Mahila Congress President Prabha Thakur said in a statement.
''The BJP Government should also ensure adequate security on the Naina Devi route so that such accidents do not recur,'' Dr Thakur said.
Tens of thousands of people had thronged the Naina Devi shrine in Himachal Pradesh to attend week-long religious festivities when the rumour of a landslide triggered panic among devotees on Sunday.
As many as 146 people, mostly women and children died, and scores of others were injured in the stampede.
