Akali minister asks Sukhbir Badal to get baptised

Patiala, Aug 5 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary and Punjab Cooperation Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh today said the party president Sukhbir Singh Badal should get himself baptised.

Addressing a media conference here, Capt Singh said they had advised Sukhbir to get baptised at the earliest possible. He pointed out that according to the constitution of SAD only an 'amritdhari' (baptised) Sikh could head SAD.

Capt Singh, however, refused to comment on the resignation of Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti as Jathedar of Akal Takht. ''It as internal matter of the SGPC,'' he quipped when asked whether jathedar Vidanti was forced to quit by the SAD leadership.
