AP: 56,220 cusecs of flood water let out in sea
Vijayawada, Aug 5: With the inflow of flood water into the Prakasam barrage raising alarmingly, the irrigation department officials this morning released 56,220 cusecs of water from the barrage into the Bay of Bengal.
The officials attributed the increase of water level at the barrage was due to the rivulets of Munneru, Paleru, Katleru and Vaira, which were in full spate due to rains for the last two days, following a depression in the Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, about 4-ft of flood water from Munneru rivulet was overflowing on the Kazway (low level bridge) on the National Highway at Lingala in Vatsavai Mandal in Krishna district disrupting vehicular traffic between Khammam and Krishna districts, official sources said.
