Troops install solar lamps in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 3 (UNI) Solar lamps were installed at important locations at Old Somtal village in Chandel district by the 10 JAK Light Infantry under HQ IGAR(S).

The Old Somtal village, inhabitated by 225 people, had been devoid of any power supply that rendered the village inactive after sunset.

With a vision to ameliorating such hardships endured by the villagers, the security forces installed the solar lighting system, the Assam Rifles PRO said.

Counter-insurgency operations were recently undertaken by troops at the insurgency-dominated area.
