Tiruchirapalli (SR) division registers record loading
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 3 (UNI) Tiruchirapalli Division of Southern Railway has registered a record loading of the cement and food grains during the last month, Mr C K Sivaraj, Public Relations Officer of the Division, today said.
In a release here, he said the loading of the cement was 1,85,992 tonnes during July 2008, which was 126 per cent higher than the corresponding period of the previous year.
Mr Sivaraj said during this financial year from April 2008 to July 2008, the division has loaded 6,95,829 tonnes of cement, an increase of 103 per cent than the corresponding period of the previous year.
Loading of food grains for the month of July 2008 was 43,203 tonnes, which was 165 per cent higher than the corresponding period of the previous year.
With regard to the coal movement, he said during this financial year from April 2008 to July 2008, the division has loaded 9,32,604 tonnes of coal. This was 18 per cent higher than the corresponding period of the last year.
