SSA official suspended for indulging in corruption

Kakinada, Aug 3 (UNI) East Godavari District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi today suspended Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) Additional Project Coordinator D N Murthy on the charges of misuse of funds, committing gross irregularities and trying to mislead the Legislative Committee during inspection.

The suspension orders were issued following directions of the Committee that toured the district recently.

Prima-facie evidence was found during the preliminary inquiry that Mr Murthy had spent Rs 26,90,379 under Nestham Badiki Raa' programme without the government's permisison and indulged in irregularities in the purchase of television sets and learning equipments, besides handling fictitious accounts.

The Collector also issued orders appointing the Kakinada Revenue Divisional Officer G C Kishore Kumar as the Additional Project Coordinator of the SSA in place of Mr Murthy.
