Nag Missile field trial put off due to bad weather
Jaisalmer, Aug 3 (UNI) The field trials of the surface-to-surface and air-to-surface versions of Nag missiles has been postponed for the time being following non arrival of DRDO experts and waterlogging and incessant rains in the Pokaran field firing range areas for past four days.
Highly placed Defence sources said the field trials had been put off due to bad weather and would now be held as per new schedule to be announced later on.
According to sources, field trials of 4 to 6 Km range DRDO designed missiles were to begin from July 27 at the Pokaran field firing range in this desert district.
A team of DRDO experts was also supposed to be present during trials to supertvise the drill, however, the team also could not reach Jaisalmer in time.
Now the trials would be re-scheduled after the firing range area dried up, the sources said.
Incessant rains in this desert district since Friday last has created flood like situation in some pockets.
Meteorology Office has issued warning for heavy rains and the district administration was gearing itself up to deal with any eventuality.
