Forensic, bomb disposal squad examines burnt car

Aluva, Aug 3 (UNI) Police, bomb squad and forensic experts today carried out a detailed examination of the car which mysteriously exploded at Edayar, near here, last evening, killing the driver.

Not willing to take any chance in the light of terrorist activities and bomb blasts in major cities, the Aluva police today fine-combed the shell of the Santro car with the help of Scientific Assistant Annamma John from Thrissur Police Academy.

Police, however, could not ascertain the cause of the explosion and could not unearth any suspicious substance from the car or from the charred body of driver Jojo, its only occupant.

Experts from capital Thiruvananthpuram will inspect the car tomorrow, police said.

Jojo, 45, of Neericode, was running a textile shop in Aluva and was also a dealer in used cars. He was on his way to Kalamassery in Kochi when the accident occurred.

After the post-mortem at the Alappuzha Medical College Hospital today, the body was buried at St Sebastian's Church Cemetery in Neericode this evening.
