CPI(M) asks J
Srinagar, Aug 3 (UNI) The CPI(M) today urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to remain vigilant against the nefarious designs of those elements which wanted to divide the state on communal lines.
The party added that such elements needed to be isolated for the overall interest of peace and stability in the state.
Addressing a public meeting at Ban Homashlibugh in South Kashmir, State Secretary CPI (M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said desperate attempts were being made to put Jammu against Kashmir.
He cautioned the people to remain vigilant against the nefarious designs of such elements, which wanted to divide the state on communal lines.
Coming down heavily on the communal forces with vested interests, Mr Tarigami said by exploiting the emotions of the people, such elements were creating communal frenzy for electoral gains.
He appealed to the people to remain calm and uphold their age-old traditions of tolerance and brotherhood.
The CPI(M) leader said that with the continuation of the agitation against the revoking of the order of land transfer to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, commercial activities have come to a standstill besides leading to an administrative inertia, adding that further continuation would have serious effects on the economy of the state.
Concerned over the loss to Kashmiri fruit industry due to the continuous blockade of National Highway by a handful of people, he said such elements needed to be isolated for the overall interest of peace and stability.
He urged the state administration not to allow anybody to take law in their hands.
Mr Tarigami urged the political parties to rise above narrow political considerations at this critical juncture and ensure that communal and divisive elements do not succeed in misguiding and misrepresenting the public resentment and protest.
The leadership of different parties must enter into dialogue with each other to sort out the issues, he said, and appealed to civil society and people of the state to see through machinations of communal forces, who are hell bent to divide the state on communal lines.
