CM announces compensation for Lakhisarai accident victims

Patna, Aug 03 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced compensation of Rs one lakh to the next of kin of the 32 labourers, who were killed as their truck fell into the Kohri rivulet at Ghogsa village under Halai police station late last evening.

Condoling the death of the labourers, Mr Kumar also ordered a chief secretary level inquiry into the incident in Lakhisarai.

Mr Kumar asked the chief secretary to personally probe the reasons which led to the mishap.

A truck, carrying about 100 labourers, fell off a bridge into the Kohri rivulet at Ghogsa village in Lakhisarai late last evening.

Meanwhile, official reports, quoting the police superintendents of Lakhisarai and Munger, confirmed 32 casualities in the mishap.

Altogether 16 people were injured in the accident and 51 labourers were rescued.

The injured had been admitted to the Lakhisarai Sadar Hospital.
