Centre urged to retrieve Katchatheevu
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 3 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of the Congress (S) today appealed to the Centre to retrieve Katchatheevu Island, ceded to Sri Lanka as per an agreement signed between India and the Island nation in 1974, and protect the fishermen here.
In a statement today, party state president Thanjai N Jayapal said his party was for cancelling the agreement between the two nations.
The Party would observe one-day fast at Kanniyakumari during the second week of this month to draw the Central and State governments' attention to the fishermen's issue, he added.
